Her eyes tracked his every move as the tattooed stranger retreated to the stone edge of the natural platform. Once he had settled again she breathed a quiet sigh of relief and loosened her death grip on the bolder. Bit by slow bit she unwound herself from around the rock and eased back into the water with obvious reluctance. She still did not trust him, but the strain of holding such an awkward pose had become too uncomfortable for her to remain on her perch.

"I'm sorry to have broken your streak," she said, sarcasm threaded through each word. A pause followed the insincere apology as Nyra considered how best to answer his question, if she decided to answer it at all. Leaning her head against the rock again she shrugged. "Been playing a game of Hide and Seek for a while now. Not real keen on losing it. Don't want the other player winning the prize."
